SOPHIE

Hi, my name is Sophie Zimmermann, and I've been part of The Ability Collective since 2024. I began as an administrative intern and now work as an Assistant Facilitator, helping to lead the choir's social session every Tuesday from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. I also collaborate with fellow team members to create content for our newsletter and social media, combining my creativity, communication skills and love of connecting with others. People often describe me as empathetic, approachable and someone who helps others feel comfortable and welcome.

What I enjoy most about The Ability Collective is the opportunity to connect with people, celebrate individuality and be part of a community where everyone is encouraged to grow and thrive. As someone who is blind, I am passionate about raising awareness of blindness and other disabilities, promoting inclusion and accessibility, and helping to create a greater understanding of the diverse experiences people bring to our community. Outside of work, I love singing jazz, dining out, travelling and appreciating art. I feel grateful to be part of an organisation that empowers people to achieve their goals and be themselves.
